SAXONBURG, Pa. -- A new round of negotiations is scheduled for the South Butler School District on Wednesday night.South Butler teachers have been on strike for nearly two weeks after rejecting a state-mediated contract offer.Teachers are asking for a 5.9 percent increase. The district is offering 3.2 percent."It is hard to negotiate when there's no money, and the economy is bad," said South Butler School solicitor Tom King.Wednesday night’s meeting has been moved to the school gymnasium due to the large crowd that is expected.Parents in the district are upset and want the issue resolved quickly."I work in the (morning)," said parent Julie Thompson. "(My) husband works in the (evening). That's how we make this work."Last week, angry parents demonstrated outside the school, calling for teachers to return to work.If nothing is resolved, by law, the teachers can only strike until Nov. 17.
