NAACP Members Walk Homewood Students To School

Group Wants School District To Continue Busing Students

Members of the NAACP are sending a message to leaders in the Pittsburgh Public School District.

They helped escort students to the new Homewood Elementary School, Friday morning.

The NAACP wants the district to continue busing students to the school.

This week the district announced it would provide busing starting next week.

The district was previously at a stand-still with the state over who would pay for transportation.

Recent shootings in the area prompted school officials to ask the state for help to buy buses so students would not need to walk.

But the state said it was unable to help.
