Barry Manilow dropped out of his appearance on "The View" Tuesday because of Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

Manilow sent a message to his fan club saying he had asked the show if one of the other hosts could interview him instead of Hasselbeck, but he says the show was not willing to accommodate that.

In a statement to TMZ.com, Manilow said that he wasn't going on the show because he "strongly disagrees" with Hasselbeck's conservative political views.

"I think she's dangerous and offensive," Manilow said in the statement. "I will not be taking the same stage as her."

Manilow said that he's always been a big supporter of the show, but can't compromise his beliefs.

TMZ said that with Manilow has been on the show twice before with Hasselbeck in the co-host's seat.

Manilow released his latest album, "The Greatest Songs of the Seventies," on Tuesday.
