PITTSBURGH -- The Bistro to Go on Pittsburgh's North Side is a place you won't visit just once. I bet you'll eat there again and again.Nikki Heckman owns the restaurant. She and her talented culinary staff have been impressing customers since the restaurant opened in October of 2007. Take Sam Cammarata for example. He visits the bistro a couple times a week because he says it feels like home. A plaque hangs on the wall with his picture and a spatula he used to serve the armed forces pancakes and eggs.Nikki serves what she calls comfort food in a place where people like Sam are comfortable telling their stories.Bistro to Go's menu changes daily and seasonally. Several chefs with different styles and specialties serve meals made from scratch.Chef Alfredo, who was a chef on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, makes the Louisiana style meals at the bistro. "It's a part of me," he said. Some customers choose to dine casually at the restaurants. Others order food to go. The bistro can cater events for up to 1,000 people. The Bistro to Go team also offers cooking classes. Chef George Harris said, "We can do all kinds of classes from one-on-one classes to group classes. We've also done them in customers' homes."The chefs said they enjoy working with the customers as much as the customers enjoy eating the bistro's food."I love working with the people of the North Side," said manager Joe Grondziowski. Chef Madeline Jones added, "I love it. We have fun."
