Ferrell Speaks Out In Health Care PSA Spoof

Actors Team Up With Liberal Group MoveOn.org

Liberal group MoveOn.org teamed up with comedian Will Ferrell to produce a fake public service announcement depicting celebrities defending the health insurance industry. The video was posted on the comedy Web site Ferrell created with Adam McKay and Chris Henchy FunnyorDie.com.

The PSA opens with "Mad Men"actor Jon Hamm saying, “Something terrible is happening.” Ferrell appears back on screen and says the terrible thing is that “health insurance executives are getting a bum rap.”

Later in the video, Ferrell sarcastically says, “Insurance companies are detailed enough to reject claims for things like typos. If you spell something wrong, do you really deserve surgery? I don’t think so.”

Other stars appearing in the video are Linda Cardellini of “ER,” Olivia Wilde of “House,” Masi Oka of “Heroes,” and Donald Faison of “Scrubs.”

"Humor can serve as a powerful reminder to Americans about what exactly is at stake," Justin Ruben, executive director of MoveOn.org, said in a release. "We were thrilled to partner up with the folks at Funny or Die and I think we've hit a home run with this video depicting who exactly the 'victims' are in this crisis and the profit motive that will keep the insurance industry fighting tooth and nail against a public option."
