27th Annual Pittsburgh Irish Festival announces lineup

With an emphasis on the area’s Irish roots, the

has announced this year’s lineup.

The event will feature national acts like Gaelic Storm, The Screaming Orphans, and The Makem & Spain Brothers. In a news release, organizers said, “As is our theme this year, we're placing a big emphasis on our local Irish roots by bringing you more performances from Pittsburgh's own incredible Irish musicians.”

The festival runs Sept. 8-10.

The full entertainment schedule includes: 

Gaelic Storm:

Gaelic Storm will return to the Pittsburgh Irish Festival just weeks after releasing its latest album, “Go Climb a Tree!” The band will perform on Friday and Saturday nights.

The Screaming Orphans:

The female powerhouse group The Screaming Orphans are four sisters from Ireland.

Makem & Spain:

Festival organizers said the band embraces the Irish folk music genre and introduces something new to it.

JigJam: 

JigJam is a multi-award-winning quartet from the heart of the midlands in Ireland, blending the best of traditional Irish music with bluegrass and Americana in a new genre that has been branded as “CeltGrass.”
