Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes Take Rome By Storm
Updated: 10:22 am EDT May 2, 2005
Last week, it was revealed that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were Hollywood's newest couple. On Friday, the two took to Rome where Tom was being honored. We're not sure if Brad and Angelina put them up to it, but the couple that came out of nowhere went to Access Hollywood to talk. Holding hands, hugging and sharing kiss after kiss, Tom and Katie took their fans and Rome's press by storm."I have to tell you, it's incredibly romantic to be here in Rome together, it really is," Cruise revealed. "It's like, it is a dream, her first time and I feel…it's great! (laughs)"
A proud Tom showed off Katie, and who could blame him, as the young actress looked absolutely stunning. But at the last minute, Holmes got interview shy as she backed away from the cameras and let Tom do the talking.Access Hollywood asked Cruise how the two met. "That's between us," he said with a smile. "But maybe one day I'll talk about it. It's very romantic."Equally romantic were Holmes' comments that she made to Seventeen magazine last October, where she said: "I think every little girl dreams about (her wedding). I used to think I was going to marry Tom Cruise."So what did Tom think about that?"I didn't know she said that," he grinned. "Well, good!"Tom was in Rome being honored at the tender age of 42 with the Donatello Lifetime Achievement Award -- the Italian equivalent to the Oscars."It's amazing. I hope maybe I'll get another one in 20 years," he said. But it seemed that even before getting the award, Tom had already found his prize."I'm very happy she's here with me," he added. Both actors are noted for high-profile relationships. Cruise's marriages to Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman ended in divorce, and his romance with Penelope Cruz ended last year.Katie Holmes recently called off her engagement with "American Pie" actor Chris Klein after dating for five years. This summer, Cruise is set to star in Steven Spielberg's "War of the Worlds" and Holmes will co-star with Christian Bale in "Batman Begins."
