Professor Wrestling: Recapping TNA's 'Genesis'
Show Focuses On Samoa Joe, Christian

Listen up!Class is in session. In a classy move, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling dedicated its Sunday pay-per-view, "Genesis," to the memory of Eddie Guerrero, a WWE star found dead in a Minneapolis hotel room earlier in the day. Guerrero, one of the best wrestlers on the planet, will be sorely missed. This Friday, I'll talk more about his life, and his tragic death. He was only 38 and leaves behind a wife and three children. As for TNA's show, lets get to the results of the key matches.No. 1 Contender Match: Jeff Hardy vs. Monty Brown
What Should Happen: The Charismatic Enigma takes on the Alpha Male for a shot at Jarrett's title. This is a rare match where either man could win and it would be good for the promotion. I'd give the slight nod to Brown, though, because he does relatively goofy/intense interviews. He's a bit of a diamond in the rough. Hardy does a nice job, too, but he may be used better right now in a feud with the incoming WWE talent.
What Will Happen: I'm going with The Alpha Male to win.
What Did Happen: Monty Brown gets the clean pinfall over Hardy.
No Disqualification Match: Sabu vs. Abyss
What Should Happen: Let it bleed, as the Stones would say. This one should be weird and wild. Again, it doesn't matter who wins -- just as long as a fast-moving spectacle is delievered.
What Will Happen: I'll take Abyss in a bloodfest.
What Did Happen: Abyss takes it after slamming Sabu into a barbed-wire chair.
X-Division Championship Match: A.J. Styles (c) vs. Petey Williams
What Should Happen: These gentlemen are two of the best in-ring workers in the world, and this match alone could be worth your hard-earned dough. Styles is so good, I'm hoping he jumps back into the heavyweight picture for a long title run there. Your best guy should be in the top spot. Williams is equally as fantastic, but a good fit for the X-Division right now -- that's why I would book him to win the belt here.
What Will Happen: Williams wins cleanly for the upset.
What Did Happen: Once again, Styles wins -- as the promotion looks ahead to a Styles/Samoa Joe program.
Elimination X Match: Christopher Daniels, Samoa Joe, Alex Shelley and Roderick Strong vs. Chris Sabin, Matt Bentley, Sonjay Dutt and Austin Aries
What Should Happen: This could easily be the show-stopper, eclipsing Styles vs. Williams. If there's one criticism about TNA, it would have to be the fact that the X-Division wrestlers so far haven't really been given proper time to fully develop their personalities. I love their moves, but who are these guys? If you can make me care about these performers, then WWE will have a promotion to truly fear.
What Will Happen: Here, if you're pinned, you're out - kind of like "Survivor Series" rules. Team Daniels is the clear favorite. They'll take it, no problem.
What Did Happen: Daniels gets the pin and the win for his team, but afterwards is attacked by teammate Samoa Joe (this guy is great, you have to see him in action).Challenge Match: Jeff Jarrett and America's Most Wanted vs. Rhino and Team 3D
What Should Happen: The NWA champ, Jarrett, and AMW -- the tag champs-- take on the babyfaces who logged plenty of time in ECW/WWE. Team 3D is the new moniker for the Dudley Boys, who are legally unable to use their old name (thanks to their old boss, Vince McMahon). Since there isn't anything on the line, it doesn't really matter who wins here. I'd go for the most entertaining match possible.
What Will Happen: Rhino and Team 3D will get the win with no belts on the line.
What Did Happen: Good guys (Rhino, 3D) win, and afterwards Christian -- newly signed from WWE -- helps the babyfaces clobber Jarrett and the heels.
That'll do it -- results from TNA's "Genesis." If you haven't seen this promotion yet, check out "Impact!" on Spike TV, at 11 p.m. EST every Saturday night. If you like wrestling go out of your way to give it a chance.Again, Friday's column is dedicated to Eddie Guerrero.
