Pittsburgh CLO announces scholarships for students participating in 2012 Gene Kelly Awards

Pittsburgh CLO has  announced multiple scholarship opportunities for seniors from schools participating in the 2012 Gene Kelly Awards.  Pittsburgh CLO and the sponsoring Colleges and Universities will present the scholarships to the selected college-bound seniors at the Award ceremony on May 26, 2012.  Interested applicants should visit pittsburghCLO.org for eligibility requirements, applications and further information.

The Gene Kelly Cash Scholarships are awarded to high school seniors who have applied and been accepted to a school for the performing or technical arts. Scholarship amounts vary.

Pittsburgh CLO Ambassador Scholarships recognize the hard work of participating students both on stage and behind the scenes, and are awarded to students pursuing a college major outside of the arts. Scholarship amounts vary.

The CLO Guild - Constance T. Rockwell Scholarship Program recognizes well-rounded individuals with regard to financial need, experience, and scholarship merit as well as school and community involvement. Scholarships are awarded to students pursuing a degree in theater arts. Awards are made for a minimum of $4,000.

In addition to the cash scholarships being offered, Pittsburgh CLO is pleased to announce the following scholarships being offered by local colleges and Universities:

LaRoche College

La Roche College, in partnership with the Pittsburgh CLO, is pleased to provide a dance scholarship to a student participating in the Gene Kelly Awards and enrolling at LaRoche College as a full-time Dance major. The guaranteed award is $2,000 per year for four years. The scholarship may be used in conjunction with, or in addition to other La Roche College scholarships. Point Park University

Point Park University, in partnership with Pittsburgh CLO, is pleased to provide two (2) Conservatory scholarships to students participating in the Gene Kelly Awards and enrolling as a full-time student in the Conservatory of Performing Arts major for the Fall term of 2012. The scholarships will be awarded in two categories; Performance and Stage Management. Each award will be a four-year $5,000 scholarship. Seton Hill University

The Seton Hill University Theatre Program, in conjunction with Pittsburgh CLO, is offering high school students participating in the Gene Kelly Awards special opportunities to compete for high-value merit-based scholarships in theater. Students must be majoring in Music Theatre, Theatre Performance, Technical Theatre, Theatre/Business, Theatre Arts, or Dance at Seton Hill University. The most prestigious scholarship, the Division of Visual and Performing Arts "Seton Scholar" Award, is a full-tuition scholarship, currently valued at $29,000 per year. Other merit-based scholarships available to Gene Kelly Award participants will range from $2,000 to $10,000 per year, totaling $8,000 to $40,000 over four years. Westminster College of the Arts

The School of Fine and Performing Arts of the Westminster College of the Arts of Rider University, in partnership with the Pittsburgh CLO, is pleased to provide a scholarship to a student enrolled as a full-time music theater major in the School of Fine and Performing Arts of Rider University. The guaranteed award is $12,000 per year for each of four years, credited against tuition charges in installments of $6,000 per semester of full-time enrollment.
