Preview: South Park High School rehearsing 'Li'l Abner'

SOUTH PARK, Pa.,None — South Park High School is performing “Li’l Abner” this year.

“It’s fun, pure and simple.  Plus, in this political environment, it’s political satire is quite sharp and appealing to all in the political spectrum,” said musical director of five years Joshua Baker.

Playing Li’l Abner is sophomore Bobby Tramontina.

“The most challenging thing about my role is making sure I act while I sing and dance,” said Tramontina.

Senior Savannah Rankin has the role of Daisy Mae Scragg.

“Some of my favorite things about my role are how upbeat my character is and all of the singing and dancing,” said Rankin.

The cast looked great singing and dancing at the rehearsal we attended.

“Working with the cast is amazing.  We all have gotten so close.  It’s a great experience,” said Rankin.

Show dates are March 22 through 24 at 7:30 p.m. and March 25 at 2 p.m. in the South Park Auditorium.

The show is under the musical direction of William Rossetti. Choreography is by Alexandra Rigby. Mamie Stein is handling the production design, and Leah Klocko is working on the costume design.
