Entertainment at WPXI's Holiday Parade - Harlem Globetrotters

We are so excited to welcome back the Harlem Globetrotters to this year’s WPXI Holiday Parade! This year we are proud to welcome Hoops Green and El Gato.
Harlem Globetrotters rookie Hoops Green is joining an elite group this year. She is just the 15th woman to ever don the red, white and blue uniform in the team’s 91-year history. The guard first started pursuing basketball at age 4. She was introduced to the sport by her older brother who has served as one of her greatest mentors. Prior to joining the team, Hoops spent some time coaching and mentoring youngsters and said becoming a Globetrotter is something inspirational to her.
El Gato Melendez is the first and only Puerto Rican-born player to ever play for the Harlem Globetrotters. The nearest basketball courts to where El Gato grew up in Puerto Rico were two miles away, and to get there to play pickup ball, he had to run … and then run back home when he was done playing. No matter where life takes him, you can probably bet that El Gato will land on his feet. Committee
The Globetrotters will be returning to Pittsburgh December 26th for a show at PPG Paints Arena! For more information and tickets go to www.harlemglobetrotters.com.
