Or, the Whale

Pittsburgh Restaurant Week is this week, and that means participating restaurants are offering special menus through Jan. 21.  The event kicked off on Monday.
Here is a link with the details and participating restaurants.
See & Be Seen joined in on the fun this week and visited two of the restaurants on the list -- Or, the Whale for lunch and DiAnoia’s Eatery for dinner.
Or, the Whale is located at 463 Boulevard of the Allies, next to the Distrikt Hotel in the historic Salvation Army building.  The restaurant features an open kitchen, wood-fired hearth and menu items sourced from sustainable and humane local farmers.
We paid $20.18 for the special Pittsburgh Restaurant Week three-course lunch.
There were three choices for the first course: Winter Vegetable Chowder, Caesar Salad and Wedge Salad.
For the second course, we had four options: oTW Burger, The Best Chicken Sandwich You’ll Have Today, Chicken Cobb Salad and the American Breakfast.
The third course was a chocolate chip cookie to go (fun!).
Or, the Whale has received a lot of recent accolades, and in our opinion, it certainly deserves them based on the excellent meals and service we experienced.
DiAnoia’s Eatery also served us delicious food and provided great service.  The price of the Pittsburgh Restaurant Week three-course meal was $30.18.
Located at 2549 Penn Avenue, DiAnoia’s Eatery in the Strip District features Italian food and has received great reviews since opening.  The all-day eatery serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in a unique space with Italian inspired décor.
Two options were offered for the first course: Escarole, Beans & Sausage (yum!) and a House Salad.
The second course included two pasta options: Cacico E Pepe and Tripolino di Funghi.
The last course was Tiramisu.
