"All out of darkness we have light / which made the angels sing this night." (Sussex Carol) The Pittsburgh School for the Choral Arts and the Oakland Girls Choirs invite you to take a musical journey from darkness to light. At its center, Transeamus features Benjamin Britten's Ceremony of Carols. Written in the 1940s, Britten's piece is based on English texts from the 15th and 16th centures, composed for treble voices and harp. The program will also include the Pittsburgh premiere of Frank LaRocca's Magnificat, performed by the 14-voice Chamber Choir. In addition, Melodia and Harmonia (formerly Training Choirs I & II) will sing carols from around the world. Framing the concert will be carols arranged by David Wilcox, John Rutter, and others.
