Workshop Abstract: The purpose of this workshop is to provide attendees with the materials, skills, and background to treat disordered gamblers effectively.  Attendees will be provided an in-depth look into using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for behavioral addictions with an emphasis on targeting disordered gamblers.  ACT is a new form of therapy based from Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and focuses on client acceptance, present moment focus, and values-based action.  As an experiential workshop, attendees will experience a new way to conceptualize problem gambling and will develop new skills useful to target behavioral, neurobiological, and social measures.  Attendees willl provided with all gambling treatment materials discussed, and will develop skills to incorporate evidence-based practice into their clinical work.
