Reservation Due Date: August 20 The North Hills Genealogists is sponsoring a trip that will provide research opportunities in important repositories for genealogists. We will be traveling by charter coach, staying at the Holiday Inn Rosslyn in Arlington, Virginia. Leaving on Sunday morning, we will travel to Washington and arrive in time to do a little sightseeing or perhaps catch an author presentation at the National Book Festival. Group visits and orientations are being arranged for the National Archives, the Library of Congress, and the DAR Library. Travelers may visit any or all of these facilities depending on their research interests. Enjoy an Illumination Tour on Tuesday evening with our group , strike out on your own for a dinner and a show, or enjoy some of Washington’s nightlife. We return to the North Hills Wednesday evening. September 22 -9: 00 AM Depart from Home Depot on Camp Horne Road. September 23-25 - Research or sightsee. Opportunities will be provided for orientations at the above venues.September 25 - 4:00 PM Depart Washington for the North Hills Cost (including round-trip coach): Double Room - $400pp / Single Room - $650pp / Triple Room - $300 pp Meals & transportation expenses in Washington are at the participant’s expense. Credit cards are accepted on the web site.Coach: Charter coach by Lenzner/Coach USAAccommodation: Rooms are furnished with 1 King sized bed or 2 double beds. Triple accommodation would require sharing a bed. Holiday Inn Rosslyn, Arlington, Virginia. Please indicate with whom you will be sharing a room or if you are amenable to being matched with another person. Metro/Walking: The hotel is across the street from the Rosslyn Metro. Fares into Washington without a travel card are $2.10 each way. Metro fares are not included in the trip cost. Some walking will be required from venue to venue.Trip Cancellation: North Hills Genealogists reserves the right to cancel the trip if there are not enough reservations made. Full refunds will be made. Participants will be refunded the entire amount of their payment if they cancel before 20 August. Refunds cannot be provided after that date unless another person can assume the participant’s place. NHG may amend or change the itinerary if conditions warrant.Illumination Tour: a private 3 hour evening tour of the monuments and memorials with a licensed guide is being offered on Tuesday night at an additional cost of $35/pp. Pickup and Drop-off will be at our hotel.Participant Responsibility: You will have to obtain reader cards in Washington in order to research at each of the facilities. These require government ID - driver’s license or passport. Packets of information will be given to each participant with research tips at a “Trip Talk” in early September. Meals and transportation expenses in Washington are participant’s responsibility.
