PITTSBURGH -- If your little one loves to dance and sing then the Learning DJ from Fisher Price will surely hit the right note with them.It is an adorable boom box with colorful lights that has educational elements including number and letter games that will keep your little guy or girl entertained while teaching them colors, matching, shapes, numbers and letters. It has 16 songs and 4 games and there is a center display that lights up with numbers or letters depending on which mode is selected while playing songs with different musical instruments (kids can change the lead instrument in the song from xylophone to flute to guitar to French Horn). There is also a do-re-me button that you can press to hear a music scale.Brendan (Age 1 ½) and Matthew (Age 2) were big fans of the Learning DJ. At one point Matthew played a song that both boys went crazy for and they started jumping up and down and dancing. The Learning DJ also has a microphone that kids can press and sing along with for their very own karaoke session.Brendan tried eating the microphone a few times, but eventually got the hang of it by pressing in the little side button and talking in it. The microphone doesn’t have a very long reach so kids have to either stand very close to the DJ to sing or carry it with them. The DJ also moves by swaying from side to side so kids can dance and rock to the beat with it.The boys didn’t play too much with the numbers and letters portion because I think it was a little too complicated for them at this young age. But it is a toy that can grow with them as they develop.I’ll sing high praises for the Learning DJ because it teaches kids about different musical instruments and it seemed to hold their interest. Although I thought it was a little pricey for around $30 it did have a lot of features and educational elements so I’ll still say 2 high notes up for this one!Age range (2-6 years)COMPARE PRICES: (As of 12/01/08)Target: $34.69Walmart: $31.47Have you played with this toy?
