Abandoned Dog Nurses Wild Animals

NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio -- A dog that was abandoned as puppy is helping to save other animals in northeast Ohio.Bailey, a 9-year-old border collie, has been nursing baby squirrels this year, Cleveland television station WEWS reported.The dog's owner, Janine Goodwin, is a wildlife rehabilitator in Ohio. Goodwin said she got Bailey when she was just a few days old and fed her with a bottle until she could fend for herself."I guess she just feels the need to return the favor," Goodwin said.Bailey has also cared for deer, fox and groundhogs. Goodwin said she cares for animals as if they are her own puppies.Bailey's best friend is a bird that follows her everywhere and even sleeps with her.
