Just a few months ago, we’d never even heard of Lizzie Samuels (Brighton Sharbino) and Mika Samuels (Kyla Kenedy). Now we’re halfway through The Walking Dead Season 4, and they are still pretty mysterious — but also potentially major players in the second half.
Lizzie and Mika were first introduced early in Season 4 when their father was bit by a walker and Carol basically took over as their parent (just don’t call her “Mom!”). Mika seemed less squeamish than Lizzie and even told Carol her older sister wasn’t weak, she was just “messed up.” But Carol trained Lizzie to be strong and act without hesitation. Carol was abandoned in the suburbs back on Episode 4, so the Samuels girls are once again without parental figures.
The last time we saw Lizzie and Mika, Lizzie had just shot Alisha in the forehead, saving Tyreese’s (Chad Coleman) life in the Episode 8 prison battle. “I like to say that scene, however sensational it is in the moment, was there to serve that Carol story,” showrunner Scott Gimple told Vulture after the midseason finale. “We’ll be addressing that in the future. It’s all part of a greater story. It’s important to know that that wasn’t just some big sensational moment.”
Tyreese appeared to follow the girls out of the prison, but we’re also wondering if he’s the one who went back to save baby Judith. Fans in the Georgia area said they saw actors Chad Coleman and Melissa McBride on set with baby twins who could be playing Judith, so we’re expecting Tyreese and Carol to be together at some point.
But are the girls with Tyreese, or did he separate from them? AMC just released a new sneak peek of the second half, with glimpses of Lizzie and Mika — together, but we’re not sure who else they might be with. (What about the other little girls?)
Early in the video, we see Lizzie and Mika holding hands as they walk down train tracks. Maybe there are others behind them, but we just see them walking alone. There's another scene of the two in the woods, a close-up of Lizzie looking down, and one brief clip appears to show our little Mikster firing a gun. Yikes.
What's up with these two? Who are they shooting this time?! Do you think they'll end up tied to the rats at the prison fence and the dissected rabbit? What about the Karen/David killings? Carol said she killed them to stop the deadly flu sickness, but there are still skeptics who think maybe it was really Lizzie. There’s speculation that maybe Lizzie will take on the role of Ben in the comics, but maybe we should keep an eye on Mika too.The Walking Dead Season 4 returns with Episode 9 on Sunday, February 9 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
