On July 4th, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was approved by the Continental Congress, setting the 13 colonies on the road to freedom as a sovereign nation. As always, this most American of holidays will be marked by parades, fireworks and backyard barbecues across the country.   • Victoria's Secret apologized for putting one of its models in a Native American-style headdress, amid criticism it was displaying ignorance towards tribal culture and history.

  • Actress Amanda Bynes was involved in a string of bad-driving incidents in 2012, a hit-and run with a police car in April and another hit-and-run in August. She's also facing a DUI and another charge of driving with a suspended license. She might have a court date before the end of the year.
