Beaver Co. Confirms First Swine Flu Death

A 54-year-old woman with Down syndrome has become the first person to die of swine flu in Beaver County in western Pennsylvania.

County Coroner Teri Tatalovich-Rossi says state health department officials have confirmed that Deborah D'Antonio died of the virus.

The woman lived in a group home in Aliquippa and died Nov. 3. The woman's sister, Hazel Cinderich, says D'Antonio was twice hospitalized because of the flu in October and lost significant weight.

State health officials say 49 Pennsylvanians have died so far from the virus out of more than 10,400 confirmed cases in the state.
