The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and Magee-Women's Hospital are facing allegations they falsified or did unnecessary medical tests for profit.

Two complaints were filed against Magee, UPMC and two physicians.

The suits allege thousands of patients received Pap smear reports that were never reviewed by a doctor.

One of the plaintiffs is a former doctor at Magee. She said she tried to alert hospital officials about allegedly fraudulent test reports.

The suits are demanding Magee notify patients their Pap smear tests were unreliable.

Both Magee and UPMC have denied any wrongdoing.
