Meningitis Fears Arise After First-Grader's Death

FAYETTE COUNTY, Pa. -- A Fayette County school district is working to ease the fears of parents in the wake of a 7-year-old's death.The first-grader at Central Elementary School died Tuesday night of strep throat.At first, health officials thought the child might have had meningitis.District officials said the health department said it's not necessary to close the school.According to the health department, death from the strep bacteria is rare.
