San Diego, CA -- (Sports Network) - San Diego Chargers center Nick Hardwick is recovering from foot surgery performed earlier this month.

Hardwick missed four games during the 2007 season with a foot sprain. He played through pain for the final six regular-season games and three playoff contests, then hoped rest would help the problem.

After visiting a foot specialist, surgery was recommended and performed on March 14. He will likely need between four and six months to fully recover.

Hardwick, a Pro Bowl selection after the 2006 campaign, could miss some of this summer's training camp or could be sidelined for the first month of the regular season.
