Rapper Jimmy Wopo shot and killed in Pittsburgh at age 21

Jimmy Wopo, an up-and-coming rapper from Pittsburgh, was shot and killed Monday.

Police told the Associated Press that Wopo, whose real name was Travon Smart, was killed and another man injured when someone opened fire on their car in the city’s Hill District Monday afternoon. He was 21.

He was killed within hours of the shooting death of Florida rapper XXXTentacion.

Wopo's manager, Taylor Maglin, confirmed the death Monday, saying in a Facebook post, "I lost my brother today and it's the worst feeling in the world."

Maglin later posted a photo of the two together on Instagram with the caption, "I’ll never forget you. Cherished every moment working with you, can’t believe your gone. ‭Always and forever my brother."

Wopo had multiple videos that surpassed 1 million views on YouTube, including "Elm Street" and "First Day Out."

His attorney, Owen Seman, told the Associated Press that the two had spoken only moments earlier to discuss his first major-label recording contract.
