Tuesday, July 22, 2008
St. Louis, MO -- (Sports Network) - The Milwaukee Brewers reinstated pitcher Jeff Suppan from the 15-day disabled list for a scheduled start opposite St. Louis' Kyle Lohse on Tuesday.Suppan pitched well after getting into trouble early, surrendering three runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out three in his first start since July 6. He kept the Brewers in the game against a tremendous performance from Lohse, allowing the Brewers to achieve a come-from-behind 4-3 win. Suppan was placed on the DL July 7 with joint irritation in his right elbow, while simultaneously making room on the roster for newly acquired CC Sabathia. The right-hander sports a 5-6 record with a 4.71 earned run average in 18 starts this season for the up-and-coming Brewers. The 33-year-old veteran is in his second season with Milwaukee, his sixth team in a 14-year career in which he has compiled a 123-119 record with a 4.61 ERA. In a corresponding move, the club optioned pitcher Mitch Stetter back to Triple-A Nashville. Stetter compiled a 2-1 record with a 2.78 ERA in 23 relief appearances for Milwaukee this season.
