Giants P Lincecum Sidelined For All-Star Game

Wednesday, July 16, 2008

(Sports Network) - San Francisco Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum wasn't available to pitch in Tuesday's All-Star game due to an illness.

Lincecum went to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital with flu like symptoms and was released. No replacement was named for the right-hander, who in just his second major league season has compiled an 11-2 record with a 2.57 ERA in 20 games, (19 starts). He also has a National League-leading 135 strikeouts this season.

The American League won the game at Yankee Stadium, 4-3, in 15 innings. Each team used all available players, with 12 pitchers for the AL and 11 for the NL.
