Marcum Returns From DL To Face O's
(Sports Network) - Lefty Garrett Olson will try to reverse the result of his last matchup with Toronto tonight, when the Baltimore Orioles host the Blue Jays in the second test of a four-game series at Camden Yards.Olson, who reached the majors and made seven starts last season, was tagged for seven hits and seven runs in just 3 2/3 innings of a 9-8 loss to Toronto on July 9 at Rogers Centre. He followed that defeat with a 6-5 loss against Detroit, in which he gave up seven hits and five runs in six innings on July 17 to run his record to 6-5 to go along with a 5.79 ERA. Olson is 0-2 lifetime against the Blue Jays with a 17.05 ERA in 6 1/3 innings. Toronto right-hander Shaun Marcum returns tonight from a stint on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right elbow. The 26-year-old St. Louis native defeated Kansas City, 7-2, on May 26, but went winless in four subsequent starts before heading to the DL on June 19. He faced Baltimore for the first time in 2008 on June 6 and allowed seven hits and a run in seven innings, getting a no-decision in the Orioles' 6-5 win. Marcum is 1-1 lifetime against Baltimore in eight appearances - six starts - with a 5.45 ERA in 38 innings. On Monday, Adam Jones and Ramon Hernandez both hit two-run home runs as Baltimore blitzed Toronto, 8-3. Melvin Mora went 2-for-4 and added the go- ahead two-run single for the Orioles, who have won three of four. Radhames Liz (4-2) got the win but allowed five hits and three runs, fanning four while issuing six walks in 5 2/3 frames. Alex Rios, Rod Barajas and Scott Rolen each knocked in a run for the Blue Jays, who have dropped three of four. Jesse Litsch (8-7) was charged with seven hits and six runs over 4 2/3 innings in the loss. Toronto is 5-4 against the Orioles so far this season and split a two-game series with Baltimore at Camden Yards from April 14-15.
