New York, NY -- (Sports Network) - Kansas City Royals outfielder Jose Guillen was named American League Player of the Week for the period ending May 18.

Guillen, who celebrated his 32nd birthday during the week, went 11-for-24 (.458) at the plate with two home runs and 13 runs batted in.

The veteran outfielder earned his second career weekly honor and is batting .245 with five homers and 30 RBI this season.
