Detroit Tigers (50-49) At Kansas City Royals (45-55), 8:10 P.m.

(Sports Network) - The Detroit Tigers try to follow up an incredible offensive outburst when they play the second of three games against the Kansas City Royals tonight at Kauffman Stadium.

On Monday, Miguel Cabrera had a 5-for-6 game with six runs driven in and two scored as Detroit rolled to a 19-4 win.

Detroit tied a season-high in runs set twice earlier in the season, on April 23 against Texas and May 24 versus Minnesota. The team also cranked out 18 hits in the win. It was the most runs Kansas City gave up this season.

Matt Joyce hit a three-run homer and finished the game 4-for-6 with five RBI and three runs scored while Carlos Guillen scored five times and added two RBI for the Tigers, who have won four of six.

Benefiting from all the run support was Zach Miner (4-3), who got the win in his first start of the season after giving up just three hits in six innings of work.

Luke Hochevar (6-8) was tagged with the loss for giving up seven runs on eight hits in five innings of work for the Royals, who had won five of seven coming into the game. Billy Butler hit a two-run single in the loss.

Getting the call for the Tigers tonight will be left-hander Kenny Rogers, who has won two of his last three decisions. Rogers picked up a win last Thursday against the Baltimore Orioles as he allowed four runs and 11 hits in six innings to run his record to 7-6 to go along with a 4.62 ERA.

Rogers lost to the Royals earlier in the season, but is 20-18 lifetime against them with a 4.08 ERA in 57 games, 36 of which have been starts.

Kansas City will counter with righty Kyle Davies, who is 3-1 with a 4.59 ERA. Davies, though, has not received a decision in any of his last three starts and has not won since topping St. Louis back on June 17.

Davies has only faced the Tigers twice and is 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA in those outings.

Kansas City has won six of its seven meetings with the Tigers after losing 11 of the 18 matchups in the series a year ago.
