(Sports Network) - The New York Yankees try and put the brakes on their longest losing streak of the season this evening, when they play the second test of their three-game series with the Baltimore Orioles at Yankee Stadium.

New York had Alex Rodriguez back in its lineup in the opener of this set on Tuesday, but it did not matter. Adam Jones recorded career-highs with four hits and four runs batted in, lifting Baltimore to a 12-2 blowout.

Kevin Millar went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and three runs scored for the Orioles, who have won five of their last six. Luke Scott hit a two-run homer and scored three times while Brian Roberts, Ramon Hernandez, Aubrey Huff and Freddy Bynum each drove in a run for Baltimore, which crossed the plate seven times with two outs in the opening inning with.

Daniel Cabrera (5-1) cruised through seven innings, holding New York to two runs on five hits. Lance Cormier threw a pair of shutout frames to finish off the victory.

Rodriguez, who had been on the disabled list since late April with a strained right quadriceps, hit a two-run homer to provide the scoring for the Yankees, who have dropped four straight and six of seven and continue to occupy last place in the AL East with a 20-25 record. Jason Giambi and Bobby Abreu had two hits each in defeat.

New York has also scored two runs or less in six of its last seven games.

While the Yankees saw the return of Rodriguez, they also witnessed Derek Jeter, their star shortstop, leave the game with a wrist injury after being hit by a pitch in the third inning. X-Rays were negative and the Yankees' captain said he should be able to play tonight.

Mike Mussina (6-4) was shelled for seven runs -- just one of which was earned -- on five hits in two-thirds of an inning, matching the shortest outing of his career. Mussina previously lasted just two-thirds of an inning when he was with the Orioles on July 13, 1995.

This game also featured a benches-clearing fracas when Yankees pitcher LaTroy Hawkins threw far inside twice to Scott. Hawkins was immediately ejected by home plate umpire Chuck Meriwether and while the benches and bullpens both emptied, the opposing sides were kept apart.

Heading to the hill tonight for the O's will be left-hander Garrett Olson, who is 3-0 with a 3.47 ERA on the season. Olson won his second straight start on Friday against Washington, as he limited the Nationals to three runs and nine hits in five innings.

Olson has never faced the Yanks.

New York will counter with righty Darrell Rasner, who is also undefeated on the year at 2-0. Rasner hasn't pitched since May 10, but won his start that afternoon against the Detroit Tigers by surrendering just two runs and four hits in six innings. He was supposed to open this past weekend's Subway Series with the Mets, but a rainout on Friday pushed his turn back to tonight.

Rasner, who has pitched to a 3.00 ERA this season, has lost both of his starts to the O's, giving up 10 runs and 13 hits in 6 2/3 innings of those outings.

Baltimore has won three of four from the Yankees this season. Last year the Orioles were 5-4 at Yankee Stadium.
