How To Stop Unwanted Credit Card Mailings


According to the AARP to stop receiving credit promotions—credit cards, debt consolidation loans, or other ways to borrow money—you can contact the three credit reporting agencies and request that they not sell information about you to companies that offer pre-approved credit.

The easiest way to opt-out of pre-approved credit offer is to make one phone call to 1-888-567-8688(1-888-5 OPT OUT) and get removed from all three companies' lists.

You will need to give your Social Security number and you can elect either a 5-year or permanent removal. If you want to permanently block this mail you will need to fill out and return a written Notice of Election to Opt Out.

You will continue to get mail from charitable organizations, local merchants, The Direct Marketing Association represents companies that use mail to sell products directly to consumers.
