PITTSBURGH -- Crib Recall
Simplicity is recalling 600,000 drop-side cribs.A problem with the crib's hardware can cause the side to come off.If that happens a gap is created in the side of the crib and a child could become trapped and suffocate.The recall includes the "Aspen and Crib ‘n Changer combo", Gabrielle, Camille, Providence, and Shenandoah models.This recall involves models sold between 2005 and August of this year.There are several models involved in this recall.To find out more on this recall go to CPSC Web site.

The new GM electric car is called the Volt.The battery-powered compact is expected to let drivers go up to 40 miles on electric power before a gas engine kicks in.The car should be available to the public in the fall of 2010.The Volt has a four-cylinder gas engine that will generate electricity to power the car and recharge the battery.The Volt will likely cost about $35,000.Credit Card Use Down
It looks like Americans are starting to kick the credit card habit.According to MasterCard and Visa, in August credit card spending grew at its slowest pace ever.This is while consumers have more than $850 billion in credit card debt.That's four times more debt than in 1990.About 58 percent of those who carry a credit card owe an average of $17,000.Pet Food Recall
A dozen brands of pet food made at a plant in Pennsylvania are being voluntarily recalled because they may be contaminated with salmonella.The dog food was made by Mars Petcare, at a plant in Everson, Pa. and shipped to 31 states.Pedigree, a well-know brand, is among the dozen listed in the recall.Salmonella could cause vomiting, diarrhea or fever or it could cause no visible symptoms at all.In addition to pets, people who handle the food are also at risk of being sickened.For more on the brands involved in this recall go to Mars Petcare.

The makers of BlackBerry are offering foldable phone, called the BlackBerry Pearl Flip and it will be available from T-Mobile.The new design will replace the blackberry pearl which launched two years ago.Soccer Goals Recalled
Thousands of Regent soccer goals have been recalled.This comes after a 20-month old was killed when his head became entangled in the net.The gaps in the net are too large.The goals were sold at Wal-Mart, Ace Hardware and sports and toy stores nationwide from May of 2002 through may of this year.For more on this recall go to CPSC.
United Doubles Second Bag Fee
United Airlines is doubling the fee to check a second bag on a domestic flight from $25 to $50 one way.That's the highest second bag fee among U.S. air carriers.The fee won't apply to first class or business program customers, premier status customers, or active duty military traveling on orders.United says it could potentially raise $700 million in revenue from this and other merchandising efforts in 2009.
