Posted: 4:32 pm EST December 17, 2003

Allegheny County Council has approved $7 million in property tax cuts for next year.

Council reportedly approved a 50 percent increase in the Homestead exemption.

It also increased the discount for seniors in the Act 77 program to 30 percent.

The tax cuts were built into the operating budget council already passed, so Tuesday night's vote was a formality.
