Skeletal Remains In Indiana County Were Shot, Dismembered

INDIANA, Pa. -- Nearly a year after remains were found in the woods of Indiana County, investigators have determined they belong to a woman who was murdered at least five years ago.State police in Punxsutawney said forensic experts have determined the woman was either black or Hispanic and likely between the ages of 20 and 50.An artist drew a picture of the woman's possible appearance, based on findings of experts from Mercyhurst College.The remains were likely there for five to 15 years before they were found Dec. 29 by someone walking in the woods near Mahoning Township.Experts are still working on a DNA profile of the victim.Police said the victim was killed by a gunshot to the back of the head, and then dismembered.
