Beasley Signs With Heat

Wednesday, July 2, 2008

(Sports Network) - Michael Beasley, the second overall selection of the 2008 NBA Draft, signed his first professional contract with the Miami Heat on Wednesday.

The forward left Kansas State for the draft after only one season in which he became just the third freshman in NCAA history to lead the nation in rebounding with his 12.4 boards per game.

Beasley also finished third in the country in scoring with 26.2 points, having only one game in which he failed to score in double figures.

Beasley was the Heat's highest draft choice in franchise history as Miami finished an NBA-worst 15-67 last season.
