Police call shooting in Washington Co. an act of self-defense

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Pa. — One person was shot in the chest inside of a Washington County home early Friday morning.

Investigators said the victim was shot and then stumbled out of the house, falling on to the curb near Rosko’s Bar in Roscoe.

Police told Channel 11 News the shooting appears to be an act of self-defense.

“Based on the interviews that we have been able to do so far, and they are not completed, we haven't interviewed everyone, but based on the interviews we have done so far it appears as though it was a self-defense incident involving the older male who was the shooter in the case basically protecting himself during the altercation,” said Tropper Stefanie Plume.

So far, no charges have been filed.

The man who was shot was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital by medical helicopter, police said. His name and condition were not released, though investigators said he is expected to be OK.
