Phone Outages Reported In Lawrence County

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Pa. -- The Lawrence County 911 Center has received reports of a telephone outage in the "724-336" telephone exchange.Residents in this area can only call within the exchange and access to 911 is not available.Officials are attempting to verify the cause of the problem and a timeline for the phone companies involved: Windstream and Sprint.According to records, the exchange extends through Enon Valley Borough, Little Beaver Township and North Beaver Township in Lawrence County, as well as other municipalities in Beaver County.In response to the outage, the Enon Valley Volunteer Fire and EMS Company have placed personnel in their station to field emergency calls or walk-ins.Residents who have an emergency are urged to contact 724-336-4696 or 911 via cell phone until further notice.The personnel at the station will have direct contact with the Lawrence County 911 Center who will dispatch the appropriate resources.
