Mario, Norm and the rest of the cyclist left Mobile for a 42-plus mile trip through the "rolling hills of Alabama."At the campsite in Stockton, Ala the owner of the site provide the riders with the use of the campsite cafeteria to prepare the evening's meal,and well as coffee the next morning.April 16:
The riders began their day with freshly brewed coffee from the campsite owner. The day's 70-plus mile journey began at approx. 7 am, and continued uphill to Grove Hill, Ala. With an ascent of approximately 2900 feet, and a steady flow of logging trucks Mario, Norm and the rest of the riders were met at the day Grove Hill Museum campsite by the media and a healthy contingent of local citizens. "Seeing the local folks there to greet us was awesome," said Norm. "it was almost like we were rockstars."Mario added, "encountering the logging truck was a bit unnerving, but the truckers were very accommodating to us on the road."Both Norm and Mario agree the the tour leaders, Alvin and Joy were "nothing short of amazing.Next stop: Coffeeville, Alabama.
