5 PM UPDATE: Officials say the attempted abduction is possibly connected to a similar case in Crafton.

Pittsburgh police are investigating an attempted abduction in the Crafton Heights section of the city on Tuesday.

A 13-year-old girl told authorities she was approached by a man while walking on Woodlow to Dubois streets to Shaffer Intermediate School around 8 a.m.

The girl said she heard a noise from a wooded area and a man came out of the woods and asked her name.

She said she tried to walk away when he grabbed her around the neck and began touching her inappropriately.

The girl was able to run away to a nearby house and call 911.

The attacker is described as a white male, 5 feet 5 inches tall with a medium build. He is said to have brown, curly hair and is clean-shaven. He was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans, tan boots and a white headband.

Anyone with information is asked to call officials at (412) 323-7141.
