Tammy Faye Messner is talking publicly about her battle with inoperable colon and lung cancer.

"There have been many days when I felt so terrible with my back and stomach, that I have hardly been able to breathe. I cry out to the Lord knowing that many of you are praying for me," Messner wrote Monday in a new posting on her Web site.

Messner and her husband Joe now live in Kansas City, Mo. She married Roe Messner after divorcing preacher Jim Bakker. The couple moved from Charlotte, N.C., built what she calls her "dream home" in Kansas City, including an all-white living room.

Messner stopped receiving cancer treatments in May and has undergone hospice care in her home since then.

"In spite of it all, I get dressed and go out to eat. I may only be able to eat one bite, or sometimes ten bites, but I swallow each bite in 'faith believing.' There are MANY times it doesn't stay with me long at all, but I keep trying and HE helps me," she wrote.

The effect of Messner's cancer is dramatic. She dropped to a weight of 60 pounds. On her Web site she told readers that she recently gained 5 pounds.

"I try really hard to eat and keep the food down, but sometimes, it is like my throat would just shut down on me, and the food comes right back up," she wrote. "So through all the prayers, I have finally gained some weight."

Messner will tell Larry King her story of hope and prayer in an interview that airs Thursday night.

On her Web site she writes that although she may some day lose her medical battle, she retains a sense of humor.

"I ask in great humbleness that you pray that I will be able to eat without it coming back up," she wrote on her Web site. "I crave hamburgers and french fries with LOTS of ketchup! When I can eat that again, it will be a day of victory!"
