ELIZABETH TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- An attorney for a 13-year-old girl, who told investigators she shot her father in the face, went before a judge Monday to request that the girl remain at Western Psych for up to 20 more days. The judge granted the attorney’s request, allowing the teen to stay out of the county jail and under expert psychiatric evaluation while efforts continue to have the case removed to juvenile court. That could be settled as early Tuesday morning when attorney Patrick Nightingale petitions the Common Pleas Court to move the case to juvenile court.Nightingale told Channel 11 District Attorney Stephen Zappala will not challenge the request and in fact supports it.Zappala took a first-hand tour of the girl's home on Friday and was visibly shaken by the conditions he saw inside the house in Elizabeth Township.Zappala said the house, where the girl lived with her father, Matthew Booth, 34, and 14-year-old brother, may need to be torn down.
