A Butler County house was reduced to rubble in a matter of minutes on Thursday. Neighbors said they heard an explosion and then saw smoke and flames rising from the home on West Danville Road in Chicora around 5:15 p.m.

Family members said the couple just had their propane tank filled on Thursday. Amazed by the destruction, Ingrid Peth knows things could have been a lot worse for her twin sister and 10-month-old niece.

Peth said, "First thing that comes to my mind is knowing that they're OK; knowing that something really bad could have happened to her and her daughter."

Peth said her sister Shannon had just walked in the house when she heard what Shannon described as an explosion.

"She turned around and looked and seen all this stuff flying all over the place. She said the whole house was engulfed in that short amount of time,” Peth added.

And by the time firefighters got to the scene there was little they could do.
Chicora fire department Lt. Adam Campbell said, "It was very destructive. Whatever happened, it did progress the fire a lot more."

The couple and their baby were shaken up but doing fine. All are staying with family members.
