PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh police said they are investigating an indecent assault allegation against a 12-year veteran officer.

Officials are not identifying the officer, but said the officer has been placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of a criminal investigation.

Police said they received the report on Saturday from the police bureau's Sex Assault and Family Crisis Unit.

The officer is accused of indecent assault without consent against a female victim. Indecent assault is defined as sexual touching or fondling without a person's consent.

The victim claimed the officer was serving a warrant at her home, when he forced her to touch his groin. She alleged the officer also touched her chest.

The Allegheny County District Attorney's Office is also investigating.

Just last week, Pittsburgh City Council passed a no-tolerance policy for domestic violence among police officers. The bill came after three officers with a history of domestic problems were promoted within the ranks.
