Channel 11 News photographers use advance video to get the first pictures into the Channel 11 news room and on to the Web.

They use the technology of a special card in their Panasonic P-2 Cameras and Treo mobile devices to feed back video in advance of our live trucks via regular phone lines.

That video is e-mailed to our Web staff. Then it goes on our site in a few minutes.

When you see advance video on WPXI.com it is the first video available from the scene. It is usually raw video and many times unedited.

"Channel 11 News viewers have told us they want to see pictures as soon as they are available,” said Channel 11 News Director, Corrie Harding. "Since we are not on the air 24 hours a day Advance Video let’s us serve news viewers on the Web almost instantly."
