PITTSBURGH -- Steelers' quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has three items in his off-season wish list: a new contract, the return of Alan Faneca and a tall wide receiver.

In an interview with the Post-Gazette, Roethlisberger explained what direction he’d like to see the Steelers take on those three topics.

Roethlisberger pleaded his case with Steelers management to keep left guard Alan Faneca. Faneca was the only stand-out on an offensive line that had a difficult season for the Steelers; and he was named to the Pro-Bowl again this season.

Faneca will be an unrestricted free agent on Feb. 29, and while the door has not been shut on contract talks, it would take a lot of money to keep him in Pittsburgh as he is expected to command big numbers in the NFL market.

Big Ben also talked about having a taller receiver for a target.

He cited his height, and the fact he has to actually throw down to receivers like Hines Ward and Santonio Holmes, because they are not as tall as him. A taller wide receiver would also be a stronger threat on fade passes, which has been a struggle for the Steelers.

Roethlisberger also wants a new contract that will make him a Steeler for life. He cited quarterbacks like Dan Marino and Jim Kelly who stayed with the same team for the duration of their careers.

Roethlisberger will also command big money if his contract is extended -- he has two years left on his current deal. In the 2007 season, Roethlisberger ranked in the lower third of salaries.

Roethlisberger finished his fourth season with the Steelers by breaking several team records, including the most touchdown passes in a season with 32.
