Ambulance Stolen Outside Washington Hospital Emergency Room

Emergency Vehicle Recovered In Canonsburg

The search is on for the person who stole an ambulance parked outside of the Washington Hospital emergency room Monday.

The ambulance turned up 25 minutes after it was reported stolen at the Interstate 79 North off-ramp at Weavertown Road in Canonsburg, police said.

The person who stole the Fort Cherry ambulance left the keys in the ignition and is believed to have fled the scene on foot.

Police said they believe they know who the suspect is. A man at the hospital said he needed a ride back to Canonsburg and when the next ambulance came he was going to take it.

Tom Bruce, the ambulance service owner, told Channel 11 he will review procedures because of the incident. The owner said before the incident, they left the keys in the ignition because of the speed in which they work.

So far, no arrests have been made.
