Chase Ends With Crash Into Police Cruiser

Suspect, Officer Taken To Pittsburgh Hospitals

Two people are being treated at Pittsburgh hospitals after a head-on collision involving a Pittsburgh police cruiser.

The collision happened overnight on the South Side while officers were chasing a stolen car.

Officers from Baldwin and Brentwood were pursuing a suspect in a white Dodge when the chase went into Mount Oliver, and then into Pittsburgh.

The Zone 3 officer was driving up 18th Street when the Dodge slammed into his vehicle near Pius Street.

The 19-year-old suspect in the Dodge had to be cut out of his clothes before he was transported to UPMC Mercy.

The police officer said he had no idea what hit him. The officer and suspect were both initially reported in serious condition. The suspect's name has not been released.

Baldwin and Brentwood police said they plan to file numerous charges against the suspect.
