A staff member at Margaret Bell Miller Middle School in Waynesburg has been diagnosed with bacterial meningitis.

The state Department of Health was informed and said that it is not a high level strain of the disease.

"No treatment is necessary unless a person experiences symptoms, including fever, headache, stiff neck, rash or seizure," said Central Greene School District Superintendent Jerome Bartley.

Other symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, discomfort looking into bright lights, confusion and sleepiness.

"Casual contact at school or work with someone who has this infection usually will not spread," said Bartley.

If anyone is experiencing any of the symptoms, they should seek medical attention.
