BROWNSVILLE -- Susan Andrade, owner of a cat named Queenie, lives within a short walk of where the cat was found hanged from a pole near a group of electric meters behind her neighbor’s house. The cat was found dead last week at South Hills Terrace in Brownsville. Andrade owned the long-haired black cat for two years. The Humane Society of the United States is offering a $2,500 reward for information about the cat’s killer. In March, it also offered a reward for the hanging of three dogs in Redstone Township, Fayette County. So far there’s no connection between the two cases, but the society says there is a connection between animal cruelty and human violence.Elizabeth Davidson with the Fayette County SPCA agrees. She said, “If somebody had stopped Jeffrey Dahmer and Ted Bundy early in life he wouldn’t have escalated to the same situation.”The U.S. Humane Society said it hopes the reward will not only find the person responsible for the hanging of the cat but also help get the serious attention of law enforcement in animal cruelty cases.
