16-year-old charged in Beechview shooting that injured passenger in vehicle

PITTSBURGH — A 16-year-old boy is charged in connection with the shooting of another teenager, who was a passenger in a vehicle, Friday night in Pittsburgh’s Beechview neighborhood.

Jaimone Robinson is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, firearms not to be carried without a license and recklessly endangering another person.

Police said a vehicle that the 19-year-old victim was in on Crane Avenue, near Brashear High School, was shot at. The vehicle pulled into the parking lot of an auto detailing business near the intersection of Crane Avenue and Banksville Road after it was struck by the gunfire.

"Times are getting so bad everywhere," said Lynn Zumbo, a Beechview resident.

These days, Zumbo isn't very optimistic about the crime in her neighborhood. This is the second shooting involving a 16-year-old Pittsburgh high school student in a week.

"It's sad," Zumbo said. "I have seen it everywhere now. I hear young kids shooting."

The 19-year-old victim was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital, where police were told that the victim was believed to have been shot six times, a criminal complaint said.

Robinson was identified as the suspect from a photo lineup shown to the victim. He currently not in custody.
